NOBILITY OF SALT
"Those Narrow Streets CD" (Amöbenklang/SXDistribution)

Nobility of Salt are different. Way outside any musical trends, the Berliners have refined their own style through several releases and once again, have managed to exceed themselves with their new release, Those Narrow Streets. Relaxed, introspective and often Wave-influenced compositions produce a very intimate and at times romantic atmosphere. The use of instruments such as the banjo heightens the exotic character of the band's very own sound. It used to be possible to compare Nobility of Salt and their previous releases with Old School Wave acts like And Also The Trees. But since 2001, such comparisons have no longer been valid. Nobility of Salt are Nobility of Salt. So if you enjoy experiencing warm sounds instead of focussing on beats per minute, so-called hard music or superficial images, the trio from Berlin is highly recommended listening. (7)

NOBILITY OF SALT
"Those Narrow Streets CD" (Amöbenklang/SXDistribution)

After their debut album in 2000, entitled "1st Album", and the EP "The Silent Ship", the Berlin Gothic Art trio Nobility of Salt has released its second album "Those Narrow Streets". It was inspired by western music composed by Ennio Morricone and John Barry, as the aptly entitled instrumental opener "A Russian Roulette" clearly shows. In addition to the use of conventional Wave guitars, the album's sound is mainly created using tremolo guitars, banjo, organ, balalaika and piano. The atmosphere they achieve is not always as impressively together as the five and a half minute intro, but produces exciting variations on conventional Gothic elements as the album progresses, especially since the singer René Hoffmann is able to perform his brother Ricardo's lyrics with great passion and expression. Otherwise, the sound of the album has remained reassuringly raw and angular, which is fitting for the images of dusty desert plains and smoky saloons.
